Person seriously hurt after being hit by train near station

A person who was struck by a train near a railway station has suffered potentially life-changing injuries.
At around 12.45pm, the British Transport Police (BTP) were called to the railway near Yate railway station.
Great Western Railway (GWR) said that a person was struck and that all trains between Bristol Parkway and Gloucester were immediately halted.
Emergency services attended the incident and a person was taken to hospital.
The person has suffered potentially life-changing injuries.
BTP said the incident is not thought to be suspicious.
A spokesperson for BTP said: “Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks at 12.45pm today (Friday, November 28) near Yate railway station.
“Officers and paramedics attended and a person was taken to hospital for medical treatment with potentially life changing injuries.
“The incident is not thought to be suspicious.”
GWR said that trains are now able to run trains between Bristol Parkway and Gloucester.
National Rail said that disruption is expected until 7pm.
Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes, revised or diverted.
