Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has starred during his second NFL season, but is no longer with his high school sweetheart, who supported him in his rookie year.
Williams has had the spotlight on him since being selected first overall by the Bears in 2024, and the Heisman Trophy winner slumped to a 5-12 record last season. This year, however, Williams and the Bears are 8-3 and sitting at the top of the NFC North.
During his rookie season, Alina Thyregod was seen supporting him at several NFL games after they rekindled their relationship. Williams and Thyregod were high school sweethearts, but reportedly broke up in May after they started dating again in 2023.

Thyregod joined Williams at the 2024 NFL Draft, when the Bears selected the USC quarterback first overall. Months later, Williams shared photos on social media to celebrate their first anniversary.
Williams is known for keeping his personal life private, and reports started to surface that he was no longer with Thyregod. At the time, Thyregod still had pictures of the quarterback on her Instagram account.
Thyregod also keeps her life private, but has only posted pictures alone since their reported split. This past offseason, Williams was seen hanging out with actor Madelyn Cline, but it’s unknown whether they’re dating or just friends.

Williams attended the Miami Grand Prix on his own in May, when it was rumored that he was single again. The following month, he attended Summer Smash in the Chicago area, with artists Young Thug and Chance the Rapper headlining the event.
The Bears quarterback joined a large group of friends, but was particularly close with Cline. The pair were seen singing and dancing at the festival, but they haven’t been seen publicly since.
Amid the relationship speculation, Williams has stepped up for the Bears in his second season, and Chicago has a 59 percent chance of reaching the playoffs. The Bears haven’t played a postseason game since 2020, and haven’t won the NFC North since 2018.

Williams is only four touchdowns shy of his rookie total (20), with six games remaining on Chicago’s schedule. Williams also has 2,568 passing yards this season, but has looked much calmer under new head coach Ben Johnson.
The main difference from last season is the protection, as Williams was sacked 68 times in 17 games. Through 11 games, Williams has only been sacked on 17 occasions.
Although the protection is greater, tight end Cole Kmet named the most significant difference he’s seen in Williams this year. “His command of the huddle, just the way he’s commanding it and getting the playcall out, has been night and day from last year,” Kmet said.
“That doesn’t sound like a big deal, but when you think about what these guys are asked to do in college… versus now when Ben Johnson is giving you two, three complicated playcalls at a time and you’ve got to spit all of that out to us with confidence in the huddle, it’s just all a lot smoother and more confident from him this year.”
