‘Love snuck up at a later stage’ Katie Taylor breaks silence on ‘quiet life’ with husband

After months of speculation and a confirmation from her dad, Kate Taylor has spoken out about getting married.
Rumours began swirling that the boxing champ had quietly walked down the aisle earlier in the year after she was spotted wearing a band on her ring finger.
Her father later confirmed the happy news, but up until now, Katie has chosen to stay quiet about her romance with Sean McCavanagh, a real estate broker from Connecticut in the US.

On Friday, however, she had a change of heart while chatting to Patrick Kiely on the Late Late Show
In a teaser for the interview, Patrick asked Katie about swapping the boxing ring for a wedding ring, referencing her amazing year, which also included winning her high-profile trilogy fight against Amanda Serrano.

‘Congratulations on getting married,’ Patrick said to her as Katie laughed and showed off her ring before a beautiful pic of her big day flashed on screen.
The black and white shot shows Katie looking utterly content and radiant in a shift-style gown with a brocade pattern running throughout.
She wore her hair in a half-up, half-down style and was beaming with happiness as she embraced her other half, with ‘Patrick calling them ‘a good-looking couple.’
‘It’s definitely been a lovely and unexpected season for me. I think, since I was a teenager, I’ve been so focused on boxing, I left very little room for relationships, and honestly, even the thought of a relationship was out of the way for me, so it’s lovely that love snuck up at a later stage in my career,’ Katie said.
She continued: ‘Myself and my husband Sean live a lovely, quiet life in Connecticut, and yeah, we’re very happy, thank God.’
In September, Katie’s husband was seen for the first time in a picture from the boxer’s visit to the Tigin Men’s Centre in Ashford, Co Wicklow.
Per the Sunday World, Katie has known Sean for several years and has even been on holiday with his family in the past.

It’s believed she met Sean and his then-wife, Alicia, while attending the same church in their local area in the United States, after the boxer had moved there in 2016.
In October of 2023, Alicia died suddenly at the age of 43. The couple shared five children, two sons and three daughters, who range in age from 11 to 23, and Katie is now stepmum to them.
