Mitch Marner’s recent struggles with the Vegas Golden Knights have resulted in Golden Knights fans beginning to turn on him the same way Leafs Nation did.
Former Leafs winger Mitch Marner has had quite the week in Vegas. First, he made an atrocious giveaway in overtime against the Anaheim Ducks that led to a Golden Knights loss.
Marner’s production takes significant drop
Expected to tally less than 80 points this season, Marner is finding the adjustment to life in Vegas more difficult than he likely suspected — both on and off the ice.
Vegas fans begin turning on Marner
Marner left Toronto because he couldn’t handle the pressure or criticism from fans. He opted for Vegas because of what he had heard from former teammates Ryan Reaves and Max Pacioretty, as well as Golden Knights players at the 4 Nations Face-Off.
Unfortunately, his warm welcome is quickly coming to an end with fans laying into the star forward after his recent play.
Fans have called him out for not scoring or even failing to get a shot off during his shootout attempt while others called him ‘over-hyped’.
While the Leafs may be in a bit of a slump, fans are enjoying seeing another fan base realize just how polarizing and disappointing Marner can be. If they think it’s bad now, wait until they see him in the post-season.
