Everything you need to know as Shein recalls the popular puppy plush toy
- The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has issued an urgent warning to Irish parents regarding certain children’s products sold on the SHEIN marketplace. Customers who have purchased these items are advised to stop using them immediately and keep them out of the reach of children.
- One product specifically recalled is a puppy plush toy sold by a third-party seller on the SHEIN platform. A safety issue was identified because small parts can detach from the toy, which poses a serious choking risk to young children if ingested.
- In addition to the plush toy, an earlier recall notice was issued for a children’s mermaid dress also sold on the SHEIN marketplace. This dress was recalled due to a serious burns risk, as its material could easily catch fire if worn close to an ignition source.
- The CCPC has provided specific identifying details for the recalled products to help consumers check their purchases. For the plush toy, the batch number is prx255, and the product identifier is sl2409242297217890.
- It is estimated that approximately 4 of the affected puppy plush products were sold in the Republic of Ireland. Conversely, the recall for the mermaid dress affects a larger number, with around 68 of those products in the country.
