High winds in Cleveland Heights cause power outages

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) – The Cleveland Heights Division of Public Safety issued an alert about high winds on the west end of the city that knocked down a tree and power lines, causing a fire and power outages.
According to a Facebook post, the high winds have caused a transformer fire at Coventry and East Overlook roads, which prompted some power outages.
More than 1,000 customers of FirstEnergy are impacted, with restoration estimated for about 3 p.m.
Police and fire are on the scene and blocking off roads.
The power outage is impacting traffic lights at several intersections, including major crossroads at Cedar and Lee, Euclid Heights Boulevard and Coventry, Euclid Heights Boulevard and Superior, and Washington Boulevard and Lee.
