Goalkeeper Robin Roefs, who boasts the highest save percentage in the division (79.3%), is an automatic starter. The manager is expected to stick with his trusted 3-4-3 formation, with Wilson Isidor leading the line.

Bournemouth

Andoni Iraola has been dealt a blow with midfielder Ryan Christie ruled out due to a knee injury. In addition, winger Ben Doak is also sidelined with a hamstring problem. However, star winger Antoine Semenyo is expected to be fit after a minor ankle issue.

Justin Kluivert is also pushing for a return to the squad. If Semenyo misses out, David Brooks is expected to step into the attack.

Form

Sunderland

Sunderland remain in a strong position despite their 1-0 loss at Craven Cottage last week. That was only their third defeat of the season. They have turned the Stadium of Light into a fortress. In fact, they remain unbeaten at home in the Premier League this term (W3, D3). Defensively, they are resolute. They have conceded just 11 goals all season. Only the league’s top two sides possess a better record.

Bournemouth

Bournemouth sit just behind Sunderland on goal difference with 19 points. Their comeback draw against West Ham showed resilience. However, consistency remains an issue. They have won just one of their last five league games.

The Cherries have struggled on the road recently. Indeed, they have failed to win any of their last four away league matches. Nevertheless, they can take confidence from their historical record. They won on their last visit to Wearside in 2017.
