West Ham closing on agreement for striker signing as journalist makes Promise David claim

West Ham look to be edging ever closer to finally securing the powerful, pacy striker they’ve been crying out for after a journalist’s exciting claim about Promise David.
Hammers News previously revealed that Nuno Espirito Santo made it clear to West Ham’s owners he wanted a striker in the January transfer window just days into taking the job.
Niclas Fullkrug started up front for the Hammers in Nuno’s first match at Everton and the Portuguese had seen enough.
Thankfully, Nuno instantly saw what West Ham fans have been saying for years – the club simply must go out and sign a young, pacy and powerful striker.
Fullkrug has been another ageing, injury-prone flop in east London.
West Ham’s long striker search finally at an end?
Callum Wilson is also ageing and injury-prone. But he has actually been a shrewd bit of business from West Ham and key to recent wins and improved performances.
Many Hammers fans were up in arms when the club moved to sign Wilson in the summer.
Supporters would have been more open to what they saw as West Ham trying to do things on the cheap had they also gone out and signed a younger forward who can lead the line for years to come.
Tim Steidten passed up that opportunity when he elected to sign Fullkrug and Luis Guilherme with the £45m he had been allocated for Jhon Duran.
Danny Ings and Michail Antonio were released in the summer while Evan Ferguson’s disastrous loan was cancelled.

That has left the Hammers with only Fullkrug – who has spent the vast majority of his 16 months at the club out injured, Wilson and youngster Callum Marshall as striker options.
So it is clear to see why Nuno wants at least one new forward in January.
Especially with Fullkrug looking set to depart for Serie A or Germany.
The Hammers have been linked with a host of forwards including Chris Wood, Joshua Zirkzee, Endrick, Franculino Dju, Gabriel Jesus and Santiago Gimenez.
Another name on the list is among the most promising, though, quite literally.
Now West Ham are closing on an agreement for a striker signing as a journalist makes a Promise David claim.
West Ham closing on agreement for David, claims reporter
A move for the giant Canadian is now said to be accelerating after the Hammers were linked with David in recent months.
After two windows of failed searches and managerial changes, the Hammers are pushing hard to get a deal for David over the line.
And sources suggest real progress is being made with the window less than five weeks away.
It’s the clearest sign yet that West Ham are ready to fix their long-standing issues up front — and David could soon be the man tasked with transforming Nuno’s attack.
When it comes to strength, pace and power – there are few strikers out there who tick those boxes more than David.

Certainly of the players who would be attainable for West Ham anyway.
The 6ft 5in 24-year-old is a hulking giant of a striker who has racked up 62 goals in the last three-and-a-bit seasons.
Now according to TEAMtalk’s Fraser Fletcher, West Ham are in pole position to sign the Union Saint-Gilloise striker in January.
The transfer reporter claims the Hammers have already made contact to sign David with a deal progressing.
The top spokesman for West Ham’s board has confirmed to Hammers News on multiple occasions that a striker is the priority in the January window.
And it is claimed the Irons intend to use the funds raised from offloading Fullkrug towards the David deal.
It is no coincidence that West Ham are targeting a similar profile of striker among their targets since Nuno’s arrival.
They are all big, powerful forwards who can play up front on their own.
That tallies with Fletcher’s claim that Nuno likes David due to his hold-up play and aerial dominance as he believes it would give the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Crysencio Summerville and Lucas Paqueta a genuine focal point.
