Olympic curling spot on the line as Jacobs takes game one

Brad Jacobs is now just one victory away from representing Canada at the Winter Olympics, following win over Matt Dunstone in the opening match of the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials final
He’s a win away from a chance to represent Canada at the Olympics for the second time, but Brad Jacobs isn’t getting ahead of himself.
“I’m not getting too excited,” Jacobs told reporters in the moments after he won the opening game of a best-of-3 final at the Canadian Olympic Curling Trials in Halifax on Friday night.
Jacobs scored a 9-8 win over Matt Dunstone to open the final with the winner earning the opportunity to represent Canada at the Winter Olympics in February.
Recent success has meant a less-pressured look at the sport for Jacobs.
“It feels great (to be a win away from representing Canada),” Jacobs said in media availability from Curling Canada. “I’m not getting too excited. I’m not thinking about outcomes or results. I’m very much detached from all that. What I want to do is just continue to put on performances that my teammates are proud of, that my family’s proud of, and that my 15-year-old self would be proud of.”
Friday’s win had some highs and lows for the Jacobs rink.
The team opened up a 5-2 lead over Dunstone before falling behind when Dunstone scored four in the fifth end to take the lead.
The game ultimately came down to the final shots and it was a miss by Dunstone on his last in 10 that gave the Jacobs rink the win.
How do they rebound on Saturday in game two?
“It’s a choice,” Dunstone said. “We choose to come out and be the best versions of ourselves or we choose to roll over and go home Sunday.”
Game two is Saturday night while game three, if necessary, is on Sunday.
