Santa Claus will light up Victoria, parade in tow, at the 43rd Annual Peninsula Co-Op Santa Claus Parade on Saturday (Nov. 29) with a brand new downtown route.
This year, the parade starts at Belleville and Government Streets at 5:30 p.m. with marshals gathering near the Legislative Building. The floats and live music will proceed with merriment down Wharf Street, turn right onto Johnson Street, left on Government Street, and end at Fisgard and Government streets. The City of Victoria say that the updated route improves safety and offers a better viewing experience.
The parade supports the Mustard Seed Street Church and Food Bank, whose team will collect non-perishable food items or small cash donations at Government and Wharf Street in front of the Tourism Victoria Visitor Centre at 5 p.m. Donations can also be made anytime at https://mustardseed.ca/donate.
The Victoria Disability Resource Centre will be hosting an accessible viewing area with live audio description at Government and Wharf Street. CHEK will broadcast the parade live.
A free downtown bike valet runs in Centennial Square from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Road closures begin around the Parliament buildings at 3:30 p.m. for parade staging.
