Santa Claus Parade: What You Need to Know

Get ready to kick off the holiday season! The Santa Claus Parade returns featuring a new route and the same festive finish at Centennial Square.
Bundle up and grab a spot along Government, Wharf or Johnson streets to catch all the floats and music. This updated route improves safety and offers a better viewing experience. All major parades will now use this route.
Where: Downtown Victoria
When: Saturday, Nov. 29
Time: Parade starts at 5:30 p.m.
New Parade Route
Starts at the intersection of Government and Belleville Street, heads north on Government St., turns left onto Wharf St., then right onto Johnson St. It turns left onto Government St. and ends at Fisgard St.
Getting There
- Walk, bike or bus if you are able.
- Expect traffic congestion and delays.
- Free Downtown Bike Valet in Centennial Square, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
- Check BC Transit for temporary bus stops and route changes.
Please note: No crossings on Government Street between Yates and Chatham during the parade.
Road Closures and Parking
- Yates Street Parkade and Ship Point waterfront parking lot close at 4:45 p.m.
- Wharf Street parking lots: Exits closed until parade ends
- Yates Street Parkade switches to exit-only at 5 p.m.
- Other City parkades remain open
James Bay
- Roads closed from 3:30-6:30 p.m.:
– Government Street (Superior to Humboldt St.)
– Belleville Street (Menzies to Douglas St.)
– Menzies Street (Superior to Belleville St.)
Wharf Street
Johnson Street
- Lower Johnson (Wharf to Government) closed from 5-7:30 p.m.
Johnson Street Bridge
- Open with detours.
- Use Bay Street Bridge for downtown access.
- From 5 p.m., westbound traffic to Vic West and Esquimalt only via Store St., eastbound detoured via Store St. and Chatham St.
Government Street
- Superior St. to Humboldt St. closed, 3:30-6:30 p.m.
- Yates St. to Chatham St. closed, 5- 7:30 p.m.
- BC Transit exchange at Legislature closed from 3:30 p.m.
