Jadan Baugh becomes 12th Florida Gator to rush for 1,000 yards

Jadan Baugh delivered the 12th 1,000-yard rushing season for the Florida Gators on Saturday against FSU. He entered the game needing 96 yards and reached it by halftime.

The historic moment came just after the six-minute mark in the second quarter on second-and-5. Baugh is the first Gator since Kelvin Taylor did it in 2015 (1,035). He’s the first Florida underclassman to hit 1,000 yards under 200 carries since Emmitt Smith.

Baugh had his eyes on the record at the very start of the game, and Florida was more than willing to feed it to him. He opened the Gators’ first offensive drive with a 21-yard gain and added 10 more on three carries, including a direct snap inside the FSU 10.

From there, his reps were steady — three yards here, four yards there. He broke an 18-yarder in the second quarter to all but guarantee history. Three rushes later, and he had it.

Retaining Baugh should be priority No. 1 for whoever takes over the Florida coaching job. He’s perhaps the only silver lining in what’s been a brutal season.
