Roslovic, Kapanen not expected back ‘anytime soon,’ coach says

Roslovic will miss “a couple weeks,” per Knoblauch.

The forward has missed practices since blocking a shot in Tuesday’s 8-3 loss to the Dallas Stars. He played only 11:09 in the outing and scored a third-period goal, but was held out for a stretch in the second.

The 28-year-old Columbus, Ohio, native has 10 goals and eight assists in 23 games in his first season with Edmonton, averaging 17:20 of ice time per night night.

Meanwhile, Kapanen “will be at least a week, maybe several weeks,” said Knoblauch, who added that the team is still awaiting further information.

Kapanen, the 29-year-old Finn, has been on long-term injured reserve since Oct. 19 with an undisclosed injury and appeared to suffer a setback during Thursday’s practice. He was visibly frustrated as he left the ice, knocking down a rack of sticks.

Jake Walman will also miss Saturday’s game against the Kraken but is “making progress,” per Knoblauch, and may return sometime next week.

“I know he went on the ice today — haven’t heard how it went — but yeah, we’re not expecting him to play Saturday,” said the coach. “Hopefully, we can get him sometime next week.”

The 29-year-old from Toronto has not played since Nov. 20 and will miss his third straight game. He has three goals and seven assists across 17 games this season.

The Oilers are expecting to have Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (undisclosed) and Curtis Lazar (upper body) back in the lineup against Seattle.

Edmonton has dealt with a bevy of injuries this season and sits sixth in the Pacific Division with a 10-10-5 record.
