Lane Kiffin weighing 2 variables in deciding on LSU job, wants to coach Ole Miss through CFP

Lane Kiffin Watch 2025 continues into Saturday evening.
The Ole Miss coach has set Saturday as the day he will decide on whether to remain in Oxford or take the LSU job.
ESPN’s Marty Smith said there are two things Kiffin is considering above all else when making the decision on his coaching future.
“There are two very important variables hat Kiffin wants answers to in that meeting,” Smith reports.
“No. 1, how much money will I have to pay my roster? And, No. 2, will I coach the Ole Miss Rebels in the College Football Playoff. He desperately wants the opportunity to coach this team even if he so chooses to head to Baton Rouge.”
Saban said during “College GameDay” there was one issue among all others that would determine Kiffin’s decision. While he didn’t say he has talked to Kiffin, Saban believes Kiffin should coach the Rebels through the CFP.

Kiffin, per earlier reports, wanted to talk to Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter as well as reach out to former coaching bosses Pete Carroll and Nick Saban.
Kiffin coached for Carroll at USC and for Saban at Alabama.
“Lane Kiffin and his staff spent the day game planning for the (Georgia) Bulldogs, just in case Alabama loses the Iron Bowl, and the Rebels have an opportunity to play for an SEC Championship next weekend,” Smith added.
