Liverpool consider Klopp and Enrique
The Daily Star believes that Liverpool have two managers in mind should they get rid of current manager Arne Slot. The Premier League champions would ask Jurgen Klopp to return on a short-term deal, before moving for Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enique. The paper writes: “Liverpool’s owners have earmarked Luis Enrique as their prime candidate to take over the managerial reins if they decide to sack Arne Slot.
“While Slot insists he still has the support of the American owners, they are preparing for the worst-case scenario and view PSG’s Enrique as the ideal long-term successor. The Spaniard has worked wonders in Paris, guiding the French outfit to their first Champions League triumph last season.
“This was part of a treble-winning campaign, marking the second time Enrique had accomplished this feat. He previously achieved this in 2015 while managing Barcelona, where he also won the Champions League as part of the treble.
“In a surprising twist, Liverpool could turn to Jurgen Klopp to temporarily fill the managerial void if they decide to sack Slot. The German, currently serving as the Global Head of Soccer for Red Bull, would likely be asked to step in until the end of the season, given that Enrique is unlikely to leave mid-season.”

City keen on Anderson and Semenyo
Manchester City are planning moves for Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo and Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.
Any move for Anderson would probably come in the summer, while Semenyo may be a January target.
The Daily Mail explains: “Manchester City are ready to make England midfielder Elliot Anderson one of their top targets in 2026.
“Mail Sport understands City’s top brass, including director of football Hugo Viana and manager Pep Guardiola, are big admirers of the 23-year-old – and their scouts have been in the stands at recent Nottingham Forest matches.
“Forest will reject any advances in January but a sale ahead of next summer’s World Cup is possible, especially if offers approaching £100 million land at the City Ground.
“The word inside Premier League rivals is that it will take a fee in excess of £80m to sign him.
“City’s immediate priority is thought to be wide areas in the January window, and Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo – available at £65m – is being considered.”

Rashford attracts PSG interest
Paris Saint-Germain are said to be a possible alternative for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.
The Daily Mirror suggests that there is no guarantee that Barcelona will follow through on their £26 million option to sign him permanently after the season’s loan.
The paper reports: “Marcus Rashford could be offered a new exit path out of Manchester United at the end of the season amid uncertainty over whether Barcelona will sign him permanently. The Spanish giants have a buy option of €30 million (£26m) next summer, but it’s not yet clear whether that will be triggered.
“However, there is still no clear indication yet whether they will trigger that option. It’s believed that a decision will be made later in the season, depending on how Rashford’s form plays out between now and May.
“Now, another twist has emerged, with Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo providing insight into Flick’s summer transfer plans and their impact on Rashford.
“The report states that Barcelona sporting director Deco and Flick have agreed that a left-footed centre-back, a winger and a centre-forward will all be prioritised.
“As a result, Rashford’s future could be elsewhere, and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly considering tempting him with a move to France. Mundo Deportivo have claimed that European champions are paying close attention to the England international and have set aside €50m (£43.8m) if they decide to move for him.”

Vinicius Jr makes huge salary request
The Athletic reports that Real Madrid striker Vinicius Junior asked for a big increase on his current £15.8m after-tax salary at the Bernabeu.
There are suggestions that the Brazilian is holding off on renewing his deal until his situation with the club improves under Xabi Alonso.
The website states: “Vinicius Jr signed a renewal at Madrid in 2022, the details of which were announced a year later. He currently earns around €18m (£15.8m; $20.7m) a year after tax in salary.
“Earlier this year, Madrid made Vinicius Jr a renewal offer that included an increase in his wage to around €20m net a year. When this was not accepted, the club asked the player’s side to propose a figure.
“Vinicius Jr’s representatives requested a package of up to €30m per season. This included base salary, performance bonuses, and a renewal bonus, something that has not been offered to players at Madrid previously.
“Madrid’s current highest earner is said to be Kylian Mbappe when factoring in wages and bonuses. He reportedly agreed an annual wage of around €15 million after tax when joining on a free transfer last summer.”
