A theme heading into Saturday’s Survivor Series has been betrayal. It was introduced in a trailer for WWE’s fall classic, and it was reinforced this week.
Monday on Raw, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and Roman Reigns bickered over leadership and championship aspirations. They were later mocked by the Usos, who are set to join them inside WarGames against Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Logan Paul.
While appearing on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams, Punk talked about the possibility of betrayal, saying it’s more likely to happen on the heels’ side.
“I think it’s that team of beefy bad guys that really got to worry about double-crossing and stabbing each other in the back. They all have more to gain from it,” said Punk.
That idea gained some traction based on what happened after Raw went off the air. For the second week in a row, the two WarGames teams fought after McIntyre and Paul beat the Usos in a match to decide who would have the man advantage inside the double steel cage.
After the babyfaces took control of the ring, the heels — led by Lesnar — charged toward the ring. But Lesnar abruptly waved everyone off except Paul, leaving him to rush in alone and get caught in a 5–1 beatdown.
Given that moment, WWE may have tipped its hand on the outcome of the main event. When the going gets tough, Lesnar’s squad could get going and abandon Paul again. It wouldn’t surprise Punk, considering how many feel about the influencer-turned-wrestler.
“I think most of humanity doesn’t like Logan Paul, and it’s because he’s a douche,” Punk said. “You can just watch him and be like, ‘Yeah, okay. I don’t like that guy. I don’t like his face. I don’t like his attitude. I don’t like his broccoli haircut.’”
Whether Punk’s comments hint at the finish will be a key storyline to follow on Saturday at Survivor Series.
