Stephanie Vaquer Beats Nikki Bella, Retains WWE Women’s Title After Legend’s Heel Turn

Stephanie Vaquer defeated Nikki Bella at WWE Survivor Series on Saturday to retain the Women’s World Championship.
After an intriguing contest, La Primera hit a corkscrew splash to the WWE Hall of Famer to seal the win.
Last month, Bella made her return to WWE programming after several weeks away by saving Vaquer from a two-on-one attack at the hands of The Judgment Day’s Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez.
For the next few weeks, Vaquer and Bella worked as an alliance, even facing Perez and Rodriguez in a losing effort on the Nov. 3 episode of Raw.
Because of The Judgment Day’s win, Rodriguez was granted a title match against Vaquer one week later on Raw, and Bella was on hand in an apparent effort to even the odds.
Bella even prevented Perez from interfering at one point, allowing Vaquer to win the match and retain the Women’s World Championship.
The veteran also chased Perez and Rodriguez off after the match when they attempted to attack La Primera, and just when it looked like Bella was going to embrace her friend, she launched an attack of her own against Vaquer.
The following week on Raw, Vaquer was supposed to address Bella’s betrayal in an interview, but Nikki jumped her and got the better of her again with another surprise attack.
That was enough to set up a title match between Bella and Vaquer at Survivor Series, as Nikki looked to win her first singles title since last dropping the Divas Championship in 2015.
The Hall of Famer had some momentum on her side entering Survivor Series, but she was tasked with going up against a younger opponent who has been nearly unstoppable since joining WWE last year.
That trend continued for Vaquer on Saturday, when she got the better of Bella and gained some revenge in the process.
