Roman Reigns’ WrestleMania 42 opponent officially teased at Survivor Series; sends an 8-word message to end the show

Survivor Series: WarGames ended with Roman Reigns taking his first defeat in the namesake stipulation match. As the rumors suggested, a WrestleMania 42 opponent was indeed hinted at, and the OTC sent an eight-word message to him to close the show.

It was a bitter defeat for Roman Reigns’ team at Survivor Series: WarGames, as Bron Breakker hit the spear on CM Punk to pick up the victory. This happened due to the interference of a mystery man, who hit a superkick and a stomp. While it seemed to resemble Seth Rollins, Wade Barrett and Michael Cole were quick to point out on commentary that Rollins is nowhere near cleared, which makes one conclude that this was a move to throw everyone off. The mystery figure climbed the cage and vanished, with no identity revealed. Punk was then finished off. However, after the match, Reigns and Punk shared a surprising moment of respect, where they fist bumped to indicate mutual liking for one another despite their differences.

Thanks for the submission!

However, the same wasn’t the case for Cody Rhodes, who seemed even more bitter in defeat. He refused to have any formalities, and in doing so, he had a staredown with Roman Reigns, effectively teasing their long-awaited trilogy match for WrestleMania 42. The OTC sent an eight-word message, telling Rhodes:

“‘This is the last time we ever team.’ Just know that.”

They last teamed up at Bad Blood 2024 in the main event to defeat Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu. They weren’t exactly on good terms then, but the bitterness and hatred between them seems to have reemerged, with no chance of reconciliation.

Reigns vs. Rhodes 3 is going to be an interesting match if it happens, and Punk was a background figure in all of this, quietly moving to the side and letting the tensions escalate between the two men who headlined WrestleMania 39 and 40.
