Does Kill Bill in Fortnite mean a sequel is happening? Quentin Tarantino has an idea…

While we continue waiting to learn what Quentin Tarantino’s tenth and potentially final movie will be, the writer/director seems to be having the time of his life collaborating with Epic Games on chapter 7 season 1 of Fortnite. Not only does the season bring characters from his Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair cut of his two-volume revenge epic, but also an animated short based on a piece of Tarantino’s original script that was cut before filming, titled The Lost Chapter: Yuki’s Revenge.
Given how deeply he and Kill Bill star Uma Thurman — who reprises her role as the Bride in the short — are still connected to the franchise, the possibility of a continuation came up at the world premiere for Yuki’s Revenge earlier this month. While Tarantino refused to confirm exactly what he’s doing next, he does have a potential idea to expand the world of Kill Bill a bit more.
“I had a whole Kill Bill idea in my mind when we were doing it, and then I was so wiped out from doing the movie,” Tarantino said during a Q&A attended by Polygon. “I could see a world… I like the idea of a Bill origin, a story of Bill. About how Bill became Bill and the three godfathers that made [him]: Esteban Vihaio, Hattori Hanzō, and Pai Me.”
The origin of Bill, the former leader of the Deadly Vipers assassination squad and the father of The Bride’s daughter, has the potential of being a fascinating story to tell, especially when you consider the likes of Pai Mei, Esteban Vihaio, and Hattori Hanzō as the ruthless figures that created him. And while Tarantino says that if he lives long enough, anything is possible, it’s hard to imagine it happening on the big screen.
Given his desire to stop making movies after his tenth feature, there is a potentially better way of telling this story. Perhaps when he’s done with movies, Tarantino should make a limited series based on Bill’s origin. If there’s one thing the streaming wars are desperately missing, it’s an original series by one of the most beloved movie directors of all time. And this particular director getting to tell an intricate story over a full season of TV — or more, in success — sounds excellent.
For now, though, we have The Lost Chapter: Yuki’s Revenge. The short can be viewed in Fortnite — where you’ll also see three different versions of The Bride have entered the Battle Pass — when it releases on Nov. 30. Otherwise, it’ll be attached to select screenings of Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair when it hits theaters on Dec. 5.
