Ace India batter Virat Kohli’s fiery net session ahead of the first ODI against South Africa on Sunday, November 30, in Ranchi saw Rishabh Pant cheer him on, as the former captain gears up for a glorious comeback to international cricket, a month after he featured in the Sydney ODI.
Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be back in action in the first ODI against South Africa in Ranchi on Sunday. Ahead of the opener, both arrived at the venue before the rest of the team and put in intense net sessions to fine-tune their preparations.
Rohit and Kohli have been training at full intensity in the nets as they gear up for the clash against South Africa. The pair made their ODI comeback against Australia, where the former earned Player of the Series honours with a hundred and a half-century.
Kohli, meanwhile, looked rusty with consecutive ducks in the first two ODIs, but he rediscovered his touch with an unbeaten 74 in the final game in Sydney.
It is no surprise that Rohit and Kohli are eager to make a statement and strengthen their push for the 2027 ODI World Cup. Their net sessions have seen both batters working on a full range of strokes, from grounded drives to aerial hits.
Kohli took on Arshdeep Singh in the nets and the former made Arshdeep pay, launching a superb aerial shot when Arshdeep dragged one short.
“Bhai ji, acha ball tha yeh. Tagda maar diya. (Brother, it was a good ball. What a shot),” Pant said. Watch the video here:
Rohit was also spotted having a long chat with Yashasvi Jaiswal during the session, as the two could open together with Shubman Gill sidelined by a neck injury.
