Paul Walker died 12 years ago in an explosive car crash, with his death sending shockwaves throughout Hollywood.

The Fast and Furious actor was just 40 years old when he died on November 30, 2013, when the Porsche Carrera GT he was a passenger in crashed at speeds of about 100 mph. The car caught fire within seconds after impact. Roger Rodas, who was driving the vehicle, died instantly from multiple physical traumas.

The Los Angeles County Coroner revealed Walker was found in a “pugilistic stance,” which is a post-mortem position in which limbs are flexed and fists are clenched, resembling a boxer’s pose. The actor’s official cause of death was listed as the “combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries.”

Walker’s autopsy report revealed he also suffered multiple broken bones, including his pelvis, collarbone and jaw. His body is said to have been so badly burned that none of his organs were suitable for donation.

The autopsy report also revealed the disturbing discovery that Walker “could have taken a few breaths after impact as bits of soot were found in his trachea.” According to officials, no traces of drugs were found in either man’s system.

Walker and Rodas crashed while on their way to a charity event. One of Walker’s friends, Jim Thorp, tried to rescue him from the blazing car, but was pushed away by first responders due to the dangers of the fire.

Speaking at the crash scene, Thorp shared Walker’s last words with reporters. He said Rodas had been having trouble parking the Porsche when Walker suggested they take it for a drive.

On the 12th anniversary of Walker’s death, fans have been paying tribute to him on social media. One person posted on X, “12 years ago today, Paul Walker passed away. Rest in peace to a legend.”

“A generation grew up wanting to drive because of him fr,” a second person shared as someone else admitted, “Still hurts man.” Another fan posted, “Hey, we’re going to keep his legacy alive and moving forward.”

Furious 7 was eventually finished after rewrites and stand-ins playing Walker’s character, including his brothers Cody and Caleb.
