Lingering flurries before wind and mixed precipitation arrives Sunday

After recording breaking snowfall yesterday at the Syracuse airport, lingering snow flurries this morning are already tapering off with breaks of sunshine expected as we recover a bit this afternoon. Here’s a quick peek at some of our local snowfall totals. Many of these totals were reported Friday afternoon/evening so might want to tack a couple additional inches on to these numbers.

High temperatures this afternoon will reach into the mid to low 30s with calming winds. Don’t expect this pause in snow to last long, another round of flurries even mixing with rain is possible on Sunday.

High and low temperatures

The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories to start at 1AM Sunday morning across the higher elevations of the Tug will and Adirondacks as moderate snowfall accumulation and gusty winds are likely through Sunday.

Winter weather advisories on Sunday

The low-pressure system tracking across the midwest will bring this blast of unsettled weather to the area through much of the day Sunday.

Although snowfall totals aren’t necessarily that impressive, gusty winds ranging from 35-45mph are possible making for blowing/drifting of the leftover snow that fell yesterday.

If you are hitting the roads Sunday be prepared for wet/slick roads and gusty winds! Temperatures drop back into the low 30s to start the week with quite a few more opportunities for snow during the first week of December!
