Key Colts player goes on injury report as questionable for Sunday’s game

INDIANAPOLIS — Rookie tight end Tyler Warren has been downgraded to questionable for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans due to an illness.

Warren, the Colts’ first-round pick in 2025, has been a critical piece for the Indianapolis offense, catching 55 passes for 662 yards and three touchdowns, along with a rushing touchdown.

The Colts use Warren as a versatile weapon, lining him up all over the formation — tight end, h-back, fullback in the slot, out wide and sometimes as a Wildcat quarterback.

If Warren is unable to play against Houston, Indianapolis likely would not be able to fill his role entirely, instead divvying the responsibilities between Mo Alie-Cox, Drew Ogletree and Will Mallory.

Alie-Cox and Ogletree have played 42.5% and 26.5% of the snaps, respectively, being deployed mostly as blockers in the Indianapolis offense.

Mallory would likely become the team’s primary receiving tight end if Warren is out. Mallory has played just five snaps this season, but the Colts have kept him on the roster because he offers the receiving threat that Warren often provides.

Indianapolis also elevated veteran defensive tackle Chris Wormley from the practice squad in a move that adds depth on the interior with DeForest Buckner still on injured reserve.
