Jarrod Bowen pays tribute to Billy Bonds
West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen said on Sky Sports: “I think you can see the reaction from everyone online already. What he meant to this club, and what he achieved with this club, obviously a stand named after him as well. It’s a sad day for everyone. Our condolences all go to his family, I know the supporters here will make noise for him today as well.
“He’s probably going to down as West Ham’s biggest legend, the best club captain that they’ve had, achieved so much. I’ll never emulate that success but to put on the captain’s armband like he did, for me is a big thing.”

I have many good players, so today I chose this line-up. West Ham great Billy Bonds dies aged 79
West Ham United legend Billy Bonds has passed away peacefully aged 79.
Bonds remains the longest-serving player in West Ham’s history and made 799 appearance for the club across a 21-year career (1967-1988) and twice won the FA Cup as captain.
He also won the Second Division title, four Hammer of the Year awards, had two testimonials, and claimed both a PFA merit award and an MBE for services to football.
West Ham confirmed that a period of appreciation to honour Bonds will be held before kick-off at today’s Premier League home fixture against Liverpool.
