Mammoth’s Cooley leaves game with apparent knee injury

Utah Mammoth forward Logan Cooley left Saturday’s game against the St. Louis Blues with an apparent knee injury.

The incident occurred early in the third period when Blues forward Alexey Toropchenko collided with Cooley with a knee-on-knee hit.

Cooley, 21, remained on the ice for a significant amount of time and needed assistance going to the bench and into the locker room.

Toropchenko was handed a five-minute kneeing major for the hit and a game misconduct.

Cooley skated 11:01 before the injury, recording two shots and left with the Blues leading 1-0.

The 6-foot centre has 14 goals and 23 points in 25 games this season, including five goals and seven points in his previous three games.

Utah entered Saturday’s action in fourth place in the Central Division with a 12-10-3 record and were tied with the San Jose Sharks and Edmonton Oilers for the final wild-card position in the Western Conference.
