Caleb Williams had said that painting his nail originated from home and wasn’t intended to make a statement. Speaking in a 2023 USC Athletics feature, Williams said that his mother, who worked professionally in the nail industry, introduced him to designs during his late high school years.

The self-expression hasn’t interfered with Caleb Williams’ production on the field. Williams threw three touchdown passes in Chicago’s 31-28 win over Pittsburgh on Nov. 23. He said the outing was personally aggravating because of missed throws that kept drives from extending as smoothly as he expected.
One of the game’s swings came when Williams drifted backward, avoiding pressure and lost the ball near the goal line, where Pittsburgh defender T.J. Watt knocked it free and the Steelers recovered for a score. The mistake briefly tilted momentum, but the Bears responded with aggressive play-calling to regain control before halftime.
Under first-year coach Ben Johnson, Chicago’s offense has been driven by a dramatic reduction in negative plays and a steadier pocket environment. The organization rebuilt the interior line over the offseason, investing resources into strengthening pass protection.
Chicago now prepares for a high-stakes matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, looking to protect the NFC North lead.
