David Ornstein claims one of Europe’s biggest teams tried to sign ‘fantastic’ Chelsea star this summer
Chelsea were active in recent transfer window and most of their decisions have paid off in spades.
Estevao Willian is the signing of the summer. Joao Pedro looks great. Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho are finding form. The jury’s still out on Liam Delap.
But Chelsea did brilliantly on the selling side, too. Noni Madueke commanded a very lucrative fee and hasn’t been missed. They offloaded Christopher Nkunku, Joao Felix and more for decent money, too.
As free-flowing as the Blues’ transfer business was, they showed some restraint.
They even turned down a top European club’s advances for a winger who is justifying their decision more each week.

Neto has been on fire of late, with five goal involvements in his last five Premier League starts.
Even before his form took off, Jose Mourinho said Neto is one of the best wingers in the world.
Respect to the former Chelsea manager for backing his fellow countryman but not many share his view. That’s because his end product has always left something to be desired.
Lately, though, he has been clinical in the Chelsea front line.
The Athletic’s transfer correspondent David Ornstein has revealed: “Chelsea rebuffed an approach for Neto from one of Europe’s biggest sides towards the end of the last transfer window, which shows the regard in which he is held at Stamford Bridge and beyond.”

All signs point to Barcelona
We already know that Barcelona hold an interest in Neto. That interest has stood for some time.
Neto hasn’t been a revelation since joining from Wolves, but he always hints at reaching another level.
Who will have the better career at Chelsea?
Maybe it was Barcelona. Maybe it wasn’t. Regardless, someone was inquiring, and Chelsea weren’t interested. That shows that the Blues are in on Neto, and they should be.
He may not be the lead singer or whatever you like, but he could be a piece of the puzzle.
