Colts cornerback Sauce Gardner has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Texans with a calf injury, the team announced.

Gardner appeared to suffer the non-contact injury two plays into the Colts’ first defensive drive while taking on a block from Houston tight end Cade Stover.”

Gardner hobbled a few steps before going down. He was attended to by trainers before he was helped off the field, limping to the locker room.

In July, the Jets signed Gardner to an extension that made him the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL. They traded him to the Colts at this year’s deadline in exchange for first round picks in 2026 and 2027 as well as wide receiver A.D. Mitchell.

The Jets selected Gardner with the fourth overall pick in the 2022 Draft and he was Defensive Rookie of the Year that season. Just a few months ago, the Jets appeared to acknowledge him as a cornerstone of the franchise by signing him to a four-year extension worth $120 million.
