Fire at Manly Dam at Allambie Heights: updates

Firefighters say they are bringing a grass and scrub fire under control near Manly Dam in Allambie Heights on the Northern Beaches.

Rural Fire Service spokesperson Superintendent Ben Shepherd said crews are gaining  control of the blaze, which is burning approximately 2-3 hectares in the vicinity of the reservoir and Nyrang Road.

“We have a fire approximately 2-3 hectares in size that crews are getting on top of,” Inspector Shepherd said.

The fire has been moving in an easterly direction towards Southern Cross Way, prompting a Watch and Act alert for properties in that area. As at 7:45pm that threat level had dropped to Advice.

A total of 13 fire trucks are on scene responding to the incident- ten from Rural Fire Service and three from NSW Fire and Rescue.
