Out of control fire threatens homes through Merriwa Rivery Valley: Act now!

A bushfire is burning in Goulburn River National Park in the Merriwa River Valley area. It’s already more than 320 hectares in size and is not yet under control.

The fire is moving east under gusty winds and has crossed the Merriwa River. Fire crews and aircraft are working in the area, but embers are being blown well ahead of the fire, which could threaten homes earlier than expected.

If you’re in the Merriwa River Valley and are not fully prepared, leaving now is the safest option. If you do leave, head south via Bylong Valley Way toward Denman if that route is open. Do not travel into the area, and do not return if you’re currently away.
