The Paddy Kirk actor labelled his on-screen wife a ‘force of nature’

Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt declared love for I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here campmate Lisa Riley as he reflected on her time so far in the jungle.

Lisa is a long-standing resident of the Dales after taking on the role of Mandy Dingle in 1995 before finally landing the role as a full-time job in 2019.

Mandy has had her fair share of drama while in the village, mostly at the hands off her on-again-off-again relationship with Paddy Kirk.

She first fell in love with Paddy Kirk in 1997 but the pair broke up time and time again before finally agreeing to stay together in 2023.

Dominic Brunt has played the role of Paddy since 1997, and is recently involved in one of the biggest Emmerdale storylines of the year – the horrific world of modern slavery.

Speaking to the Mirror about Lisa’s time in the jungle, Dominic shared: “She called me on set one day, she said that she’d been asked to do the jungle, and she wasn’t sure, what did I think?

“And I was going, you’d be brilliant. You should do it. And then later she said, I’m actually doing it. I was really flattered that she told me.

“We have a very, very close relationship, and we have since 1997, but I was really flattered by the fact that it’s only me and her fella, who knew, and to be trusted like that.”

Before she went in, Lisa said she could “go full Mandy Dingle” if she got tired and grouchy, but Dominic warned that viewers shouldn’t expect to see her alter ego any time soon.

“I’ve very rarely seen that side of her, I have to say,” he explains.

“She’s not a moody person. She’s a very upbeat person, and I think even when she’s tired, that’s the only time that you’ll really see her quite quiet.”

He said he knew Lisa would wow viewers because she was a “force of nature.”

When asked if Lisa could be Queen of the Jungle, Dominic replied: “Oh, you never know. It does feel like Aitch and Angry Ginge are absolutely to the fore, and people love them but you never know.

“I hope so….I’m voting for her, the whole building is voting for her.”
