Sixers injury news: Joel Embiid has new status designation vs. Hawks

As the Philadelphia 76ers prepare to take on the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday evening, it was initially understood that Joel Embiid was set to miss his 10th straight game due to a bothersome right knee. The big fella hasn’t played since Nov. 8 so when the Sixers listed him as out per the 5:30 p.m. EST injury report on Saturday, it was shrugged off by everybody.

However, per the 12:30 p.m. EST injury report on Sunday evening, the Sixers have given a new injury designation to Embiid. The 2023 MVP winner has been upgraded to questionable due to the right knee injury management.

If Embiid can return, then the Sixers will be able to handle Atlanta’s big man Onyeka Okongwu and Mouhamed Gueye. It would be a big lift for everybody in the organization on Sunday night.

The Sixers and the Hawks will tip off at 6 p.m. EST from the Xfinity Mobile Arena on Sunday. Philadelphia will look to try and continue climbing up the standings in the Eastern Conference.
