PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers got some excellent injury news on Friday. Head coach Mike Tomlin said that wide receiver DK Metcalf and outside linebacker Alex Highsmith will return. That is in addition to quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who missed last week with a broken left wrist.

Metcalf missed the team’s first practice on Wednesday with an ankle injury suffered against the Chicago Bears.

Metcalf rolled his ankle twice against the Bears but returned both times. It will not keep him out of the team’s game against the Bills, but it did limit his practice time instead.

Metcalf has struggled over the last month, failing to catch a touchdown and amassing just over 100 yards in those games combined. Pittsburgh has not done nearly enough to get him involved.

Metcalf has been healthy for most of the season and has not missed a game. He has a usual rest day built into the practice schedule to get others on the roster work.

Highsmith has missed the last two games with a pectoral injury he suffered against the Los Angeles Chargers. He played through it in that game and made it worse, causing him to miss time.

Highsmith battled a high ankle sprain earlier this year that forced him to miss three games.

The Steelers will also hope to get cornerback Joey Porter Jr. back from a hip flexor strain that has made him limited throughout most of the week.
