Small GTA 6 Detail May Be Oddly Prophetic About Its Release Date

With Grand Theft Auto 6 being one of the most anticipated games of all time, fans have picked apart just about every detail you could see in each of its trailers. When analyzing everything from background NPCs to in-game logos, Rockstar’s attention to detail and habits of including Easter eggs and other references in their trailers have plenty of rewards in store for eagle-eyed fans.

Despite the growing excitement from fans, Grand Theft Auto 6‘s latest delay has been hitting harder than most, pushing its release another 6 months into the end of 2026. While another delay for one of Rockstar’s most ambitious games yet isn’t too surprising, it could have one unforeseen effect that fans have been joking about for months.

GTA 6 Might Be Hiding A PS6 In Plain Sight

Spotted in the second milestone-breaking trailer for GTA 6, some viewers were quick to point out what appears to be a PlayStation-style console sitting next to the TV in Jason’s apartment, alongside a familiar-looking PlayStation controller on his coffee table.

While some have even suggested that GTA 6 could be teasing a concept model of a PlayStation 6, its release is still much too far in the future to know for sure. Given that the explosively popular trailer itself was rendered entirely on a PlayStation 5, it could just be a simple in-game homage to Sony’s flagship console, but that hasn’t stopped plenty of speculation in the months that followed.

Although the newest delay to GTA 6 has had a surprisingly positive reception so far, thanks to how much hope there is for the quality of Rockstar’s next generational leap in the series, a further delay could make its trailer Easter egg even more ironic.

More Delays Could Mean GTA 6 Ends Up Releasing On PlayStation 6

Having already been delayed two times since its initial announcement, it’s not hard to see Rockstar pushing the game back yet again to help it achieve the tremendously high expectations it already has. While it would be disheartening to have to wait even longer to jump back into the world of GTA, each delay inches it closer and closer to the inevitable release of Sony’s PlayStation 6.

With current estimates for a PlayStation 6 reveal aiming for or after 2027, a third delay for GTA 6 could push it dangerously close to being a launch title, making its suspected cameo in Rockstar’s previous trailer all the more fitting. While being able to tackle the ambitious fidelity of GTA 6 on a next-generation console is more than a little exciting, it could have a few unfortunate results as well.

Although there has been plenty of speculation that GTA 6 would push back any console release from Microsoft or Sony, Rockstar might have to delay GTA 6 yet again to adapt it to the next-generation release, or act as a launch title for its upgraded systems.

Thankfully, there aren’t too many incentives to target a PlayStation 6 release with how massive its popularity is, but the longer Rockstar takes with the development of Grand Theft Auto 6, the higher the chance the joke becomes a reality.
