Marcus Mariota Contract, Salary, and Career Earnings: How Much Is the Former No. 2 Overall Pick Making With Commanders?

Washington Commanders quarterback Marcus Mariota is back in the fold again due to starter Jayden Daniels’s elbow injury. Mariota replaced Daniels early in the second half of their loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7, and then stepped up in Week 9 as well after the second-year quarterback suffered another injury.
How Much Are Marcus Mariota’s Contract and Career Earnings Worth?
Mariota is on a one-year deal worth $8 million with the Commanders. He got a signing bonus of $5.5 million, and $7.39 million of his contract is guaranteed at signing, as he’ll be a free agent in 2026.
His cap hit in 2025 is $8.08 million, which takes 2.89% of Washington’s total cap. With a $1,890,000 base salary, his $5.5 million signing bonus, $390,000 roster bonus, $100,000 workout bonus, and $200,000 in likely incentives comprise the rest of his salary.

Mariota’s 2025 contract is an upgrade over his 2024 deal with the Commanders. In his first year with the team, fresh off a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, he signed a one-year contract worth $6 million. The contract is another improvement over his Eagles contract, which paid him $5 million in 2023.
His deal with Philadelphia represented a steep decline from his prior contract with the Atlanta Falcons, where he had made an average of $9,375,000 over a two-year deal.
So far in seven games for the Commanders this season, Mariota has thrown for 1,065 yards, seven touchdowns, and five interceptions. Daniels will likely return in Week 14, but Mariota will get the start against the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football.
