Gloomy Sunday with rain/snow then potential Thanksgiving travel delays

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A weak weather system slides through Central New York today with gloomy and wet weather. First, a warm front moves through this morning with a batch of light rain/snow and cloudy skies. Then a cold front arrives this afternoon with a line of rain showers and breezy conditions. Temperatures will be chilly but above freezing all day.
WEATHER SYSTEM SETUP SUNDAY MORNING
Skies will remain cloudy in CNY all day with temperatures barely budging from the low-mid 30s at sunrise, to the lower 40s this afternoon. Winds will be from the south at 7-12mph this morning, then west at 10-20mph this afternoon, making it feel like the 30s all day. Plus, a batch of rain/snow showers this morning, then scattered rain showers this afternoon and evening. Mixing with some snow for the highest elevations only, but mostly melting.

Looking ahead to Thanksgiving, a strong weather system may cause travel delays. A warm front bumps temperatures up into the upper 50s Wednesday, then a cold front brings a line of rain in the evening. Much colder air drops in for Thanksgiving with highs in the mid-upper 30s and heavy lake effect snow across the North Country, lighter snow showers in CNY coming from the west off of Lake Erie. Then snow squalls drop south into CNY Thursday night into Friday, with a heavy snowfall accumulation possible in CNY and windy conditions.
