Don’t put away the snow shovels just yet.

While central Ohio didn’t get the anticipated precipitation over the weekend, snow could be just around the corner at the start of the week.

After a windy Sunday on Nov. 30, snowfall is expected to hit central Ohio late Dec. 1 into Dec. 2. This could impact the Tuesday morning commute, according to a report from the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wilmington.

As of Nov. 30, the chance of the coming precipitation was 90%.

With the bulk of the snowfall predicted after 1 a.m. Dec. 2, accumulation of 1-3 inches is possible Tuesday morning.

Snow could continue through 1 p.m. Dec. 2, with a 30% chance of precipitation. Less than an inch of new snow accumulation is predicted.

The next chance of snowfall will be Dec. 5-6, according to the NWS report.

How cold will temps fall this winter? (or – Will Columbus see a white Christmas?)

Winter could be colder than normal, according to predictions from The Old Farmer’s Almanac.

While it can only provide a general outlook, the long-range weather forecast predicted the coldest periods will be in mid- to late December to early January, late January into early February and mid-March. Lower than normal temperatures are expected in December and January, it said.

While precipitation could be below normal overall, the almanac predicts the periods with the most snowfall will be in late December, early January and February.

The December 2025 prediction includes snow each week from Dec. 8 through Dec. 31 in central Ohio, potentially setting the region up for a white Christmas.
