A 28-year-old man is in custody after a woman was threatened with a shotgun inside a St. Vital apartment early Saturday morning.
Winnipeg police were called just after 2 a.m. to an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Warde Avenue. Officers found a 24-year-old woman in the lobby, who told police she had gone to a suite to meet a friend when an argument broke out. Another man in the suite allegedly produced a shotgun and threatened her. She fled and called 911. No injuries were reported.
Officers arrested a man and a woman from the suite at around 2:30 a.m. The woman was later released without charges.
A search warrant executed just before 2 p.m. led investigators to seize an unloaded Winchester 12-gauge shotgun.
Brennan David Cochrane faces multiple firearm-related charges including using a firearm during an indictable offence, possessing a firearm with a tampered serial number, breaching a prohibition order, uttering threats, and failing to comply with release conditions. He remains in custody.
