Can’t check out? It’s not just you, Shopify is down

If you were looking to start your Cyber Monday with a little bit of deal hunting, unfortunately you may be experiencing issues, as e-commerce platform Shopify has been experiencing issues all morning, with many users unable to log into their accounts to complete checkout. Store owners that use the platform have also reported that they have been unable to process orders as of early this morning.
Shopify has confirmed the issues on its status page, saying that the issue is being investigated and advising those who are already logged in to remain logged in to avoid any further issues.
What is Shopify?
The company that powers a lot of your retail transactions
If you’ve purchased something on the web in the past decade, chances are good you’ve used Shopify and haven’t even known it. The company specializes in custom online point of sale systems, designing seamless checkout experiences for some of the world’s biggest brands including Tesla, Lindt, and Hyatt.
The e-commerce giant also powers many smaller retailers as well, and according to WisePops, Shopify has a market share of 22% among all ecommerce stores in the US, which translates into over 3 million websites.
There is no timeline for a fix just yet, but you can keep up with what’s happening with Shopify on the platform’s status page, which will hopefully provide an update soon.
