I pride myself on being the family member that buys the most memorable gifts that have recipients talking long after Boxing Day. There’s one in particular I’ve bought for almost every member of my family that’s been universally loved, gets used daily and the best part? It’s on offer for Black Friday.
The Frameo 10.1 inch digital photo frame, from Amazon, is the kind of gift that is thoughtful, personal and usable. Usually £79.98, the frames are currently reduced to £47.48 for the plain black frame which, according to Amazon price history checker CamelCamelCamel, is its lowest ever price.
I’ve gifted several of these frames as presents over the last 12 months, the first of which was to my nan, who lives several hours away. We would previously exchange snaps over WhatsApp, but having the frame up in her home allowed for her to see precious family photos each day , without the need to faff with her phone.

With my nan having mentioned at least once per phone call how much she likes her frame, I brought my other grandparents one for their anniversary, which was equally well received. Then, in March, my mum got one for Mother’s Day , too. My sister-in-law even has one bedside with pictures of her baby scan on there, and she’s actually mentioned wanting a second one to have next to the TV to display photos of her little one.
The frames are easy to set up, with a code that can be given out to friends and family who will then be able to upload photos to the frame from anywhere in the world. The frame boasts generous 32GB storage capacity, accommodating roughly 60,000 photographs .

Digital photo frames allow users to share and store thousands of photos and memories in one place. The Frameo app allows unlimited user connections, so each family member can effortlessly send photos and videos to your digital photo frame from anywhere in the world.
The image quality is excellent, and the frame is also touchscreen-enabled, allowing you to scroll through images, remove pictures or videos, and halt the slideshow within seconds. Users can also set it to turn on and off at certain times of the day.
We have our frame by the TV, and it’s one of the most commented-on features of our lounge by guests. As a family, we often find ourselves reminiscing moments , from holidays to day trips that feature on the slideshow. It really is a lovely way to share memories without having dozens of picture frames cluttering windowsills and shelf space.
Those wanting something slightly more posh looking could opt for one of the wood effect frames for £69.98 , but the sleek black version will fit in with most decor choices with ease.
Elsewhere, Kodak offers their own digital photo frame at Argos for £74.99 , down from £99.99 This frame combines photo, music, video, calendar, clock and alarm functions in one device.
For those seeking a more upmarket alternative, the AURA Carver Mat 10.1 Inch Digital Photo Frame usually costs £179 but is down to £139 in the sale. With this option, users can share more than 10,000 photos with unlimited storage and no subscription fees.
Users can display images of their loved ones – including pets
But the Frameo device I’ve gifted multiple times remains one of the most affordable options. It even boasts a 4.6 star rating on Amazon based on more than 600 reviews.
One buyer commented: “This is the fourth Frameo picture frame I have purchased. They have all been excellent and I love the large screen on this model. The picture quality is outstanding. Everyone who sees it is captivated. I believe these offer good value for money. It is easy to use, has some useful features, and I appreciate the SD card slot which makes it easy to transfer images from my PC. I’ve never had a problem with the touch screen. The only downsides are: it takes a while to boot up; I would appreciate more options for display order, including the ability to remember where it left off when it goes to sleep (if you set a sleep interval); and the ability to display the file name or other selected metadata from the image.”
One chuffed customer shared: “This is my third Frameo digital frame. I bought the first one for myself and I was amazed by the quality of pictures and the product itself. The second one was a gift for my Dad and the third one a gift for my son’s grandmother. Frame always comes in a very nice box, it looks already like a gift. The screen and photos look clear and bright. The Frameo app is quick and easy to use. I like the fact i can add photos and videos as well. Sleeping mode is a great advantage so you don’t have to always turn it on and off. My family is more than happy that I can share with them live pictures in the app. We all admire modern design, I can also add that the wood style looks even more fancy than I expected. Overall I think its a great product and value for money.”
However, not everyone was completely satisfied. One shopper who left a three-star review noted: “Brought this as a Xmas present, good clear picture, lots of settings, loses some stars as you can only transfer a few photos wirelessly at a time unless you pay for the premium software. Lots of storage built in! Finally the mains adapter could have been longer as if you’re wall mounting it then it has to be fairly close to a mains plug.”
“Looks so good. I absolutely love it. I’ve loaded it with photos ready for a present for Christmas. Can’t wait for them to see it. Might get another for myself,” said a fourth. You can snap up the digital photo frame on Amazon here.
