Snowfall causes multiple vehicle crashes across St. Louis-area interstates

ST. LOUIS — The snowfall has caused multiple vehicle crashes Monday afternoon and the snow is expected to last until this early evening.

As of 12:30 p.m. Monday, below are crashes reported by the Missouri Department of Transportation:

  • A vehicle crash has closed a right lane on eastbound I-44 at Elm Avenue.
  • Westbound Interstate 70 at Lake Saint Louis Boulevard is backed up due to a crash. Two left lanes are closed.
  • Left lane on westbound I-64 at Lindbergh is closed due to a crash. Expect delays.

As snow is falling across the St. Louis region, MoDOT urges drivers to avoid traveling during snowfall, give snowplows plenty of room to work, take it slow and buckle up while on the roads.

Check road conditions before leaving through MoDOT’s traveler map.

School districts across the area, including Wentzville, Francis Howell and Fort Zumwalt are letting students out early due to the weather. After-school activities also are canceled.

The story will be updated to provide more weather and road information.
