Double-platinum rapper Toosii says he will play football at Syracuse

Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse-born rapper Nau’Jour Grainger, better known as Toosii, has committed to play football for Fran Brown, Grainger announced Monday on social media.
Grainger, who has 4.5 million followers on Instagram, took a recruiting visit to Syracuse earlier this year and posted photos from that visit on social media when sharing the news.
“When Coach Fran called, I knew it was a sign from God,” Grainger wrote on social media. “So with that being said, Cuse I’m coming home.”
The 25-year-old, known for his double-platinum 2023 record, Favorite Song, is taking a break from his recording career in an attempt to play Division I football.
Grainger was born in Syracuse and stayed in Central New York until the age of 12. His family then moved to North Carolina, where he played high school football.
“I’m chasing history,” Grainger said in an Aug. 18 X post. “First multi-platinum recording artist to go back to school and play DIVISION I football. Next year I’m gonna be on somebody’s team mark my words!”
He was at Maryland 12 days later for a gameday visit against Florida Atlantic. Grainger has been working out at North Carolina State’s facilities to get in football shape.
