Groundwork nears completion for 6 soccer fields, ballpark expansion of Gilmer’s Yamboree Grounds
GILMER, Texas (KLTV) – Progress is moving right along for the expansion of Gilmer City Park and Yamboree Grounds.
The project began as a $5.9 million bond and is continuing to morph as the city welcomes community input into the plans.

The plan has been in Phase One since June of this year, which consists of adding six new soccer fields, a ballpark, and more park acreage. Six months later, the needed groundwork is almost finished. Phase One is expected to finish in early spring.
Phase Two includes making additions to the parking lot amongst a few other changes. A timeline for Phase two’s completion has not yet been determined.
