- The heaviest snowfall is expected during the Tuesday morning commute, creating hazardous road conditions.
It looks like there’s no avoiding this one.
The National Weather Service says a developing snowstorm − dubbed Winter Storm Chan − is expected to hit Greater Akron early Tuesday morning.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for all of Greater Akron from midnight through 7 p.m. Tuesday with “heavy” snow possible.
Anywhere from three to seven inches of snow is expected to fall in Greater Akron.
When will the snow arrive in Greater Akron?
The timing could not be worse or fantastic depending on your point of view.
For commuters, the weather service says it could be a “slippery” and “hazardous” morning commute.
And for kids it could mean the first snow day of the year for some as the heaviest snow is expected to fall between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. with lake-enhanced snow showers possible into the afternoon.
Snowfall rates of anywhere from half an inch to almost an inch an hour are possible at the peak of the storm.
A chilly week is expected with highs in the 30s and lows in the 20s.
The overnight temperature is expected to drop to the teens on Thursday.
A dusting of snow is possible on Wednesday otherwise the next risk of snow and rain showers returns on Friday.
