Interac’s Konek offers homegrown alternative for online payments

Interac Corp. has introduced Konek, a new online payment service that lets Canadians pay for purchases directly through their bank accounts.

The system is being rolled out with Staples.ca as its first client and is currently available to customers of BMO, National Bank, RBC, Scotiabank and TD.

Interac says Konek was developed with Canadian financial institutions to offer a secure, homegrown alternative to international payment options.
