Park Waves Festival Australia Has Been Cancelled

The Park Waves Festival Australian tour will not go ahead, with all dates cancelled and tickets to be refunded.
Park Waves Festival Australia will not go ahead, Destroy All Lines have confirmed. The Australian run, which was set to hit eleven locations across the country, was cancelled this afternoon (2 December) and confirmed via a social post to the festival’s Instagram and Facebook accounts.
According to the statement, Park Waves Festival was cancelled “due to a combination of challenges,” and ultimately, “the numbers no longer stack up.” It’s not clear whether this refers to increasing costs of running an event (especially in regional areas), low ticket sales, or something else.
The post continues: “With a heavy heart, we’ve had to make a difficult decision. We’ve tried everything. We’re gutted. We know everyone will be understandably disappointed.”
Those who purchased tickets to Park Waves Festival’s Australian run will have their ticket and booking fees refunded, with more information to be sent to ticket holders via email. Both Destroy All Lines and Park Waves Festival itself added: “To anyone who bought tickets, and to everyone who keeps showing up for live music – thank you.”

Parkway Drive has issued their own statement about the cancellation, calling it a “kick in the guts” and citing the rising costs across the Australian entertainment industry. You can read the full statement below:
Park Waves, Parkway Drive’s own music festival, was announced in early July to some pretty massive hype, and was set to feature the Byron Bay heavyweights themselves alongside The Amity Affliction, Northlane, Alpha Wolf, Story of the Year, “and more” to be announced. It was set to begin on February 14, running across the country on multiple regional stops before wrapping up on March 15.
There’s no further details just yet on what exactly happened, but it’s a rough day for those who were looking forward to another festival hitting our shores – especially in usually underserved locations.
