Actor Daniel Craig has spoken out on the new James Bond film in the works after he quit the franchise following the completion of the movie No Time to Die.

In a new interview with the Today Show, Daniel sat down with NBC’s Kaylee Hartung to talk about his role in Wake Up Dead Man which is the third movie in the hit Knives Out franchise.

The 57-year-old star dished on a number of topics, including what it was like working alongside the star-studded cast, how the James Bond franchise continues to inspire his work, and his thoughts on the next film, ‘Bond 26.’ During the chat, Daniel was asked, “As that franchise embarked on a new chapter what do you hope the next Bond takes away from that adventure of his own?”

To which he replied, “Well just that. That it’s their adventure. The people that are involved with it now are some of the best in the industry and they’ll make a wonderful movie I’m sure.”

Craig’s remark comes as he completed his journey with the James Bond franchise back in 2021. The actor previously took on the demanding role from 2006 to 2021, which began with his role in the movie Casino Royale. During his run, Craig brought new life and depth to the British Secret Service agent as he embarked on a number of thrilling and dangerous adventures.

But after portraying the character for over a decade, Craig said that he was emotionally and physically drained by the role.

After wrapping up No Time to Die, Craig told Total Film magazine, “I thought I was probably physically not capable of doing another. For me, it was very cut and dried that I wasn’t coming back.”

He continued, “I went and did other things. I got some separation. My family forgave me for being away from home for that length of time.”

During the filming of the James Bond movie Spectre, Craig suffered a on-set knee injury while performing a fight scene. After the incident, the actor underwent arthroscopic surgery in 2015. After recovering, Craig returned to wrap up the story after he was swayed by an intriguing storyline for the final movie.

He explained, “We started talking about it and I went, ‘There might be a story we need to finish here.’ Something we started in ‘Casino Royale.’ Something to do with Vesper (Eva Green’s character) and Spectre, and something that was connected, in a way. It started to formulate. And I thought, ‘Here we go.'”

Sharing his thoughts on his last James Bond movie, Craig said, “In terms of closing the story, the circle is complete now. It feels emotionally satisfying.”
