NBA Notes: Nuggets, Jamal Murray, Knicks, OG Anunoby, Pelicans

Nuggets
Jamal Murray usually eases his way into a season. Not this time.
The Nuggets guard has been cooking from opening night and looks every bit like an All-Star, as Sean Keeler of The Denver Post noted.
Murray is sitting on career highs across the board — 24 points, 6.6 assists and 4.5 rebounds — while shooting a ridiculous .486 from the field, .409 from deep and .892 at the line.
His True Shooting percentage (.611) is the best of his career.
And with this year’s All-Star Game featuring an international team against two American squads, the Canadian guard might finally get that first nod.
Knicks
OG Anunoby is inching back. The Knicks forward has been cleared for controlled contact and 3-on-3 work as he rehabs a left hamstring strain, per Kristian Winfield of The New York Daily News.
Coach Mike Brown said they’re pleased with the progress but won’t rush a thing.
Anunoby hasn’t played since tweaking the hamstring on November 14. Before that, he was averaging 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.1 steals while shooting nearly 40 percent from three.
Josh Hart has taken on the heavier minutes load with Anunoby down.
Pelicans
The record says one thing. The play says another.
New Orleans is 1-8 under interim coach James Borrego, but the Pelicans are showing signs of life after firing Willie Green following a 2-10 start.
They’ve been far more competitive, and Borrego said it’s all about staying rooted in the process.
“The results can overwhelm you,” Borrego said, via Rod Walker of NOLA.com. “The best organizations are process-driven.
“Trust that this is where we need to go, and the results will take care of themselves.”
The wins aren’t there yet, but the Pelicans at least look like they’re moving in the right direction.
