The New York Giants and the New England Patriots both finished last in their divisions last season, but the difference in their 2025 campaigns has been stark.
The Giants are bottom of the NFC East again, have already fired head coach Brian Daboll and are 2-10 this year, becoming the first team in the NFL to be eliminated from playoff contention.
In contrast, the Patriots have roared back to the top of the NFC East under new coach Mike Vrabel, and their soft schedule continues to offer them every chance of staying there.
Quarterback Drake Maye has already clocked up 3,130 passing yards, while the Pats’ defence is a top-ten unit and ranks second against the run, limiting teams to 87.7 rushing yards per game.
The Patriots failed to cover a similar handicap line against the Bengals last week when winning 26-20, but they could have an easier time at home this week.
The Giants are set to have starting quarterback Jaxson Dart back after concussion but offence wasn’t the problem last week when back-up Jameis Winston and the offence gained 517 yards against the Lions. Their defence blew a 27-17 lead and defensive coordinator Shane Bowen was fired after the game.
The feelgood factor is high in New England and a comfortable home win is expected.
