Neo-Surf Rock Disruptors Wave Raiders Share Debut EP ‘Nothing Better’

After a stack of great singles, fast-rising Sunshine Coast trio Wave Raiders have finally dropped their debut EP, Nothing Better.

The EP includes four tracks – ‘Don’t Wanna Be Late’, ‘Fun’, ‘My Way’ and the focus track ‘Nothing Better’, which was written by brothers Peter and Thomas De Waard with assistance from their guitar teacher, Cameron McGlinchey (The Screaming Jets, Rogue Traders).

“Cam helped us add colour and fine-tune the song. He picked ‘Nothing Better’ out of a heap of songs because it was different,” the band explained.

The track was produced by Steve James (Cold Chisel, The Angels, Skunkhour)and finished at Red Engine Studios in Brisbane during Wave Raider’s early-2025 recording sessions.

“‘Nothing Better’ is about chilling out on the beach with mates, listening to tunes, and not giving a toss about what anyone else thinks,” the band says. “It’s our idea of a more chilled song, but it still packs a punch and has a touch of rebellion.”
